sciendis GmbH is digitising care and offers an eHealth solution for wound management with WUNDERA®. The Leipzig start-up around the two founders, Dr Michael Aleithe and Dr Philipp Skowron, convinced again: TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen and adesso ventures invest a seven-digit amount in sciendis GmbH.
The healthcare start-up offers the digital solution WUNDERA® for the management and documentation of wound care. This relieves the nursing staff in the treatment of chronic wounds.
The TGFS - seed financier for technology-oriented start-ups in Saxony - first took a stake in sciendis in 2020 as part of a pre-seed investment and expanded its involvement last year after a successful market launch. In addition to TGFS, Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Sachsen mbH is also involved in the company through the Corona Start-up-Hilfsfonds (CSH), which it manages. In the current round, adesso ventures - incubator of the IT service provider adesso SE based in Dortmund - is also investing in sciendis in addition to TGFS.
With WUNDERA®, sciendis GmbH offers a mobile application that enables easy-to-use management with AI-based documentation of chronic wounds in nursing care. In addition to outpatient care services, inpatient providers, homecare companies, medical supply stores and care centres are now also relying on WUNDERA® to optimise their processes.
"We have achieved a lot since the last financing round in 2021. We have developed technologically and were able to tap into additional customer segments," Dr Michael Aleithe, founder of sciendis, looks back and adds: "The current round reflects the trust of our previous investor TGFS, with whom we have worked together in a trusting manner in the past. With adesso ventures, we can now expand the circle with an investor who will support us not only with capital but also with its know-how and network."
Sören Schuster, Managing Director of TGFS, on the current financing: "The founding team has proven itself over the past two years: Despite the Corona crisis and thus more difficult access to care facilities, customers and, in particular, partners have been acquired. We are pleased to have adesso ventures on board as a further investor, as with its expertise and network the software can be further developed even faster and in a more targeted manner."
Malte Unger, Managing Director of adesso ventures: "Michael and Philipp's team convinced us straight away: a value-creating use case in the healthcare sector combined with a sophisticated technological project. This is where adesso can fully contribute its strengths to the development of WUNDERA: a strong customer network on the one hand and technological expertise on the other."
